Enrollment is coming. Are you ready?

Before logging on and entering your classes take a minute to read through these easy steps to be better prepared and get the most out of your classes next semester!


Determine who is assigned as your Academic Advisor

  1. Log onto your myKU portal
  2. In the upper navigation tabs click on “Academics” and then go the “My Progress” application
  3. Click the “Academics” tab, your assigned advisor will be shown in that tab.
  4. If you do not see a specific advisor name at this location, you can find additional information about your department’s advising team here.

How to view your assigned advisor(s)


Determine your enrollment time for spring classes

  1. Your enrollment time will be posted under your “Info” tab on your myKU Portal

Check to see if you have enrollment holds on your account

  1. If you have a hold, it will be posted in your “Info” tab on your myKU Portal
  2. Review the Advising Enrollment Holds to find out what each hold means and how to get it removed. Non-advising and professional school holds can be reviewed on the Registrar’s Office website
  3. If you have questions about your advising hold then check your academic notice for more information or check the “Student Center” in the “Enroll & Pay” section for additional contact information.

Schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor

Call (785) 864-3500 to schedule an appointment or schedule appointment online through your MySuccess Scheduler:

  1. Log onto your myKU portal
  2. In the upper navigation tabs click on “Academics” and then go the “My Progress” application
  3. Click the “Academics” tab, your assigned advisor will be shown in that tab
  4. Click on “Make an advising appointment”
  5. You will then be directed to the MySuccess portal
  6. While in the MySuccess portal click on “MySuccess Network” and then select “Show people in this term”
  7. Scroll to see your advisor’s name and click on “Schedule Appointment”

Prepare for your advising appointment

  1. Schedule your advising appointment in advance. Advisor’s schedules fill up quickly, especially during peak registration times
  2. Review KU Core requirements, your major/minor requirements, and the spring course schedule prior to your appointment. Looking for ideas on electives or Core classes? Check out some of these “cool classes” lists to get you started
  3. Create a preliminary class schedule to discuss with your advisor
  4. Prepare a list of questions for your advisor and plan to take notes
  5. Bring a copy of your Degree Progress Report which includes your intended major
  6. Show up on time and take an active role in your advising session. Be prepared to discuss your goals and educational plans.
